Nervous system regulation is our body’s ability to “regulate”, to calm down after a stress or a perceived threat naturally.

When we lose connection with our internal world made of sensations we tend to interpret every change in a negative way therefore staying in the body becomes overwhelming and we tend to “live outside of it” or to rely on something external to soothe us and to bring us back to a sense of safety.

We lose this capacity to stay with the feelings and to live in the body in response to some form of developmental trauma. 
  • When children feel different,

  • when the caregivers don’t perceive or meet their needs,

  • when love is inconsistent or must be earned,

  • when no one is there to protect them

they will carry signs of emotional neglect in their adult life as 
  • Strong inner critic, 

  • a lack of sense of trust and safety 

  • and also nervous system dis-regulation.

The main goal is to bring a sense of safety and to learn the skills that will help you to stay connected to and to regulate your emotions in your daily life. 

This process of repairing connection and eradicating old patterns is made possible because of neuroplasticity (the brain's ability to change and adapt due to experience). 

So it is possible to repair our innate ability to regulate our emotions.

To fully experience the benefits of this re-building experience, consistency and repetition are key: based on my personal experience you’ll be able to see changes after 6 months with 2 sessions a month.

Titration (going very slowly and mainly focusing on exploring safety and good feelings)

No forcing the breath nor going into catharsis, but gently letting the body find its way to balance
